Weight-Loss Success: 100 Pounds Lost

Posted by [email protected] on
It's a battle to reduce weight. There are lots of diet plans and techniques that make weight reduction overwhelming. It's hard to choose where to start. Long-term weight loss is a way of life. Mauricio Beckstrom understands this difficulty. As a 370-pound male, he felt old and worn out; not to discuss he constantly sweated. With some motivation and determination, he set out to lose 100 pounds ... and he did. Here is his story.

Sitting in a restaurant, a server walks by with a plate of nachos. Mauricio states, "See those nachos; I used to consume an entire plate of those in one sitting. That's 2,500 calories! I utilized to be fat."

How did your weight-loss journey begin?

Mauricio Beckstrom: I was 370 pounds when I began this entire thing. Now, let me inform you two things: when you're fat, you don't like being informed how to diet and you do not like images. You understand you're fat; you don't wish to take a look at pictures and be reminded. You don't desire others to take a look at you, so you do not like remaining in images.

I was in San Francisco for work. I work in the hospitality market so I travel a lot. My good friend was taking photos of us on the trip. She published the images on Facebook and tagged me when she got house from the trip. That was the first time I saw myself in months. It was without a doubt the heaviest I have ever been. So that was the very first eye-opener for me.

The 2nd eye-opener: I stayed about three blocks from the convention center in San Francisco (exact same trip). It was May. Spring in San Francisco is beautiful; it had to do with 70 degrees and bright. I would walk into the convention center soaked in sweat, just from 3 blocks. And I believed, am I truly that out of shape?

I also saw I might feel my turkey wing. Do you know what a turkey wing is? When the fat from your lower hip and the fat from your rib cage touch, it's. So instead of having a curve, your 2 flaps of fat touch each other. There's a little crease. That's a turkey wing when you look at fat people and see a little line of sweat where the curve is.

That was my last straw.

My sweetheart and I sat down and computed whatever I was eating when I began this journey. It was close to 6,000 calories a day. Now, that seems like a lot, however it was the choices I made. In the early morning I ate a bowl of cereal with milk. Skim milk is 90 calories a cup. The cereal, cinnamon toast crunch (fatty and sugary) had 200 calories per? cup. And I would throw in a banana to be healthy.

For lunch, I had a burrito from Chipotle; that's 1,300 calories! I 'd consume that and think that's absolutely nothing. I 'd still be starving by supper time. And I would push more food in my mouth. The error I made: I didn't consume the right types of food and I didn't eat adequate food throughout the day. I also did not portion out my food. If I saw a plate full of food, I consumed the entire thing.

I was at the fitness center and I saw a saying from the quote board, "Don't wait up until New Year's, or do not wait until Monday to start. Today is a brand-new day."

I took an image of it and waited on my phone. I said, I have this weekend and then I start. I went for it. I had alcohol, ate like a pig, nachos ... and after that Tuesday I started. That was the last time I had nachos and pizza. That quote has been a substantial motivator.
